Athletistic/Football. Paulo Fonseca, head coach of France’s Lille team, has called on Benfica and Braga not to sell their players to Russian clubs.
Fonseca said: “During this week I have witnessed rumors about the possible sale of players Chiquinho and Tormena from Benfica and my former team Braga to Russian clubs. However, I believe that Benfica, who have always been a support for Ukraine, and my Braga, led by friendly and benevolent people, will not take such a step. I do not want to admit such a thought and refuse to believe in it.
Fonseca gave an example from the past: “Not so long ago, the Russian club tried to acquire Rogerio, the left-back from Sassuolo. However, the Italian club refused to negotiate on this issue, adhering to ethical principles. I call on Benfica and Braga to follow suit and act with moral responsibility,” Fonseca tweeted.
Recall that previously Paulo Fonseca worked at the Shakhtar Donetsk club.
