Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but sources say the deal is valued at £115m, making it the highest-grossing transfer among Premier League clubs. The move broke Chelsea’s previous record set in January when the club acquired Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £107million.
Earlier in the offseason, Moises Caicedo could go to Liverpool, and even an agreement has been reached between the clubs on the amount of the transfer. However, the player insisted on his transfer to Chelsea, citing preliminary agreements reached in May.
