Defender of Miners – about returning to Ukraine
36 year old defender Dmitry Chygrinsky returned to Donetsk Miner after an 8 year break. At home game against Alexandria Dmitry played in the center of defense along with Nikolai Matvienko. After the end of the meeting, Chygrynsky spoke about how he saw Ukraine – his native country, in which a full-scale war has been going on for 1.5 years.
– I returned home, and I felt calmer, – said the player. – Everywhere in Kyiv I saw order. Where necessary, there is a checkpoint. All Ukrainians have faith and hope that everything will end for us with victory in the war. And fast enough.
– Dmitry, does the war feel differently abroad?
– My parents are in Ukraine, and I was abroad. It’s hard. You ask a lot of questions, you are interested in everything. Throughout the won, I drew a lot of information from the telegram channels. Now I’m here and I see the whole picture with my own eyes. Psychologically, I needed to return to my homeland, home.
– If we talk about football, then you and Rakitsky are almost twice as old as Farina and Kozik. How to play with them?
– Everything is fine. Football players do not look at the passport. There are requirements of the coaching staff. If you fulfill them, then you play in the composition. If not, then you don’t play. So everything is simple here.
– Most recently, Shakhtar lost to Tottenham with a devastating score. And how to play in the autumn in the Champions League, where the opponents will be even stronger?
– You need to work hard. Step by step. You need to believe in yourself and work hard. Nothing else is given. Only work can change the situation in our favor.
