‘It’s too early for Zakharyan to leave Dynamo for Real Sociedad, he hasn’t gotten stronger yet’ – Ponomarev

Former CSKA and USSR national footballer Vladimir Ponomarev believes that Dynamo midfielder Arsen Zakharyan was eager to join Spain’s Real Sociedad.

On Sunday, Dynamo head coach Marcel Lichka said on that Zakharyan could be called a Real Sociedad player. Blue and White chief executive Pavel Pivovarov said the 20-year-old midfielder traveled to Spain on Sunday to undergo a medical examination.

It is too early for him to leave, he is only 20 years old. He hasn’t grown up yet, hasn’t matured in the Dynamo team. He should play here for another two or three years and then he could move on. I’m afraid he gets lost. Or maybe on the contrary, it will grow and progress – the devil knows!

With us, Chalov left for Switzerland for nothing, played there for Basel, no one paid attention to him there, in Europe, came back and began to feel much better. The same can happen with Zakharyan, the transfer to Real Sociedad is very serious. A football player matures at the age of 23-24 – he begins to think normally, navigate the football field and interact with his partners.

In Spain he will have to work even harder, where they will ask him for goals. Here he is, and he will immediately have to prove himself. And if not, he will sit on a bench and receive a starvation ration, – Gazeta.Ru quotes Ponomarev.

Zakharyan has been playing for Dynamo’s main team since the end of 2020, has played 89 matches in his squad, scored 19 goals and provided 25 assists. The 20-year-old has seven appearances for the Russian national team.
