In a three-set duel, the Ukrainian gave way to the Chinese Wang Yafan
Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur failed to qualify for the second round of the tournament WTA 125 in American Stanford.
The Ukrainian lost in three sets to the Chinese Wang Yafan. The fight lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.
The first set was the best for Snigur. She took the lead 5:0 and only after that allowed her opponent to break the score. In the second set, the key moment happened when the score was 3:2 in favor of Van – our athlete twice missed a break point on someone else’s serve. As a result, she lost with a score of 2:6, and in the decisive set she completely lost with a big score.
This defeat was the second in a row for Daria after the July victory at the tournament in Spanish Vitoria-Gasteiz. Soon she will start qualifying for the US Open.
Recall that earlier in the second round of the tournament at Stanford, Katerina Beindl made her way to the Australian Olivia Gadetsky. Her next opponent will be Yue Yuan from China.
