The head coach of Dynamo spoke about what happened during the first match against Aris and asked the Romanian fans for good support
Head coach Dynamo Mircea Lucescu in an interview with the Romanian media, he spoke candidly about the difficulties he and his team experienced in the match against Aris in Thessaloniki on 10 August. And he asked for good support in the second leg.
“I would like to see the support of the public in the match against Aris on Thursday. We are returning after a difficult period. From Kyiv to Thessaloniki we got 23 hours. By train to Chernivtsi, then by bus to Suceava and from there by plane. That’s why we asked for the league game to be postponed so we can get ready. It is impossible to restore players after such a journey.”
“Now I am waiting for a reaction from my team. We undeservedly lost in Thessaloniki. The penalty to our goal was awarded undeservedly, and we had a correct penalty, which was not assigned.
“The atmosphere was more like a Rapid-Petrolul match, but the fans were not as civilized as at the Rapid Giulesti stadium. We were scolded, spat on, the judge was put under incredible pressure. Therefore, we really want a revenge and a passage further. Then the match with Besiktas in Bucharest should take place. Their fans are also very close to the team.”
Recall that the white-blues lost to Aris (0:1) in the first match of the 3rd round of the 2023/24 Conference League qualification. The only goal the Kiev team conceded from the penalty spot in the second half.
At the mentioned match, the hosts’ fans posted insulting banners against the defenders of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Football Association appealed to UEFA and the Hellenic Federation with a request to respond to this incident.
The return match between Dinamo and Aris will take place on August 17 in Bucharest at the Rapid Giulesti stadium. The bout will be served by an Austrian team of referees led by Sebastian Gieshamer.
