Guardiola: De Bruyne will be out for several months, we will soon decide on the need for surgery

In case of surgery, the Belgian will spend up to four months without football

Head coach Manchester City Pep Guardiola confirmed that the midfielder Kevin De Bruyne out for a long time due to injury.

“We have to decide if this is an operation or not, but he will be out for several months. The decision will be made in the next few days. An operation is an operation. In this case, he will be absent for three or four months.”

“Kevin’s injury was a heavy blow for us. But at the same time, we must look ahead. Kevin’s skills are indispensable, but this is an opportunity for others and I’m sure they will take advantage of it.”

De Bruyne started for the City on Matchday 1 of the Premier League against Burnley. The Belgian played 23 minutes before being replaced by Mateo Kovacic. Earlier, Guardiola said that the midfielder had the same problems as in the Champions League 2022/23.

De Bruyne suffered a hamstring injury in the Champions League final against Inter (1-0). Kevin was expected to risk missing the start of the season due to injury.

Guardiola’s team defeated Burnley away (3:0). City’s next match at home is Newcastle on 19 August.
