Lviv club leads the UPL after three rounds
Lviv’s mentor Rukh Vitaly Ponomarev commented on the successful start of his wards in the UPL. However, the coach stressed that the season has just begun, so it’s too early to draw conclusions about the team’s success.
“The team is well prepared for the season. I am glad that all the guys passed the training camp with high quality, everyone is very united. But now I want both players and experts to understand that this is only the result of the first three rounds. There are 27 more games to go.”
“We must continue to work in the same vein further. Our coaching staff sets up the team that psychologically you need to be ready for anything. We ask the players not to think about the result at all when they take the field.”
“Kolos is a good team with experienced players. Our previous opponents were also of high level, so we are preparing as usual. We study our opponent, but we will not adapt to him, but play our own football, which we want to see. In this game, we need to be ready to work a lot with the ball, because Kolos can consciously play number two. The psychology and patience of the players is important here, because the positional attack is one of the most difficult elements in the game. It is important that during the match the players adhere to the principles of the game that our team promotes.”
“Yuri Klimchuk is a very important player for our team. He is the leader of the team, one of the most experienced players. We need players like Klimchuk to be able to lead the youth who play in our squad. He does this job, in addition, Yuri is a quality forward and is a very important figure within the team.”
“Freddie Pluman is a quality player who has strengthened the team, but he is not yet 100% ready. We will use him in several positions, because he is a versatile player. He will definitely help us. We choose the squad according to the shape of the players and who we will play against. I am very pleased that we have a good number of substitutes and that we can rotate if necessary. After all, there are players on the bench who are not inferior to the players in the starting lineup in terms of level and quality.
Rukh got three wins at the start of the season and topped the UPL standings. Ponomarev’s team beat Zorya (2:1), Vorskla (4:1) and Polissya (1:0).
In the fourth round of the Ukrainian Championship, the Lviv club will host Kolos. The meeting will take place on Saturday, August 19.
