Ex-Barcelona player Deco becomes club sporting director

Retired player “Barcelona” deco has become the club’s new sporting director, according to the Catalan team’s press service.

The 45-year-old former footballer from the Portuguese national team has signed an agreement with Les Bleus Garnet for three seasons.

The club’s current sporting director, Mateu Alemany, will step down after the transfer window closes.

“Deco will be responsible for defining the sporting philosophy of FC Barcelona, ​​forming the team with the coach and the technical staff,” the club said in a statement.

The Portuguese footballer played for Barcelona from 2004 to 2008. With the team he twice won the Spanish championship, twice – the country’s Super Cup, and also became the winner of the Champions League.
