Athletistic/Football. The Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) has expressed its wish that UEFA introduce a wild card system to allow clubs from the Saudi league to participate in the Champions League. Information about this appeared in the publication Calcio Finanza.

Additionally, UEFA plan to join the new form of the tournament in 2024/25, when the Champions League format will feature 36 clubs, expanding the traditional group stage.

The source says such moves are aimed at boosting the international status of Saudi Arabia’s leading clubs, such as Al-Nasra, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahly.
