Manchester City beat Sevilla on penalties to win the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in history

The only miss was made by Nemanja Gudel

Manchester city won Seville in the match for UEFA Super Cup. The duel between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League was held in the Greek city of Piraeus.

The Nervions took the lead in the middle of the first half – Youssef En-Nesiri closed the serve of Marcos Acuña. Pep Guardiola’s team bounced back after the break with the efforts of Cole Palmer.

The teams did not score more goals in regular time of the meeting. The fate of the match and the trophy was decided in a penalty shootout – 5:4 in favor of Manchester City. The only miss was made by Nemanja Gudel – the ball hit the crossbar after the Serb hit.

For Manchester City, this was the first ever match for the UEFA Super Cup. Sevilla also fought for the trophy for the seventh time. At the same time, the Nervionians became the owners of the UEFA Super Cup only once in 2006, having suffered five defeats (2007, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2020).
