Sevilla coach explained what the squad lacked to beat Man City in the European Super Cup

The head coach “Seville” Jose Luis Mendilibar said the team did not implement their plan for the European Super Cup game against “Manchester City” . According to the specialist, the Spanish club had to score two goals to win.

In regular time, the teams played a draw – 1: 1, and in the penalty shootout, the English club turned out to be stronger – 5: 4.

“It’s very difficult to make a good plan against a good team like Manchester City. I wanted us to play higher up the pitch and put more pressure on them.

We didn’t take advantage of the chances to score the second goal, but we played what I thought was a good game and probably created more chances than our opponents.

Usually Man City scores at least one goal. We knew that and we knew we had to score twice to win. Alas, it didn’t work out, – the official UEFA website cites Mendilibar’s words.

Sevilla will play the next game on August 21 as part of the Spanish Primera 2nd round against Alavesa .
