Saudi Arabia plans to apply to UEFA for a wild card offer for the Champions League

Saudi clubs will propose to change the current structure of the tournament in order to be able to play in the European Cup

Government Saudi Arabia plans to contact UEFA with a proposal to introduce a wild card system for Champions League.

Saudi clubs expect to take part in the European Cup. Officials intend to propose to UEFA that the structure of the current Champions League be changed to a 36-team format, each playing eight matches before the knockout round.

Clubs from Saudi Arabia have been active in the transfer market for the last year. In winter, Al-Nasr signed Cristiano Ronaldo. Al-Ittihad signed for midfielder Ngolo Kante and forward Karim Benzema. Neymar joined Al-Hilal on a two-year deal.

Manchester City won the Champions League last season after beating Inter in the final. The townspeople also won the UEFA Super Cup, defeating Sevilla in a penalty shootout.
