“Dynamo” uncomfortable opponent for CSKA? Remember the losing streak for the army

Usually, the derby between CSKA and Dynamo is described as brotherly. After all, the two teams and their fans are on good terms. However, on the football field, everyone often has to solve their own problems and fight for points. And it often turns out that Dynamo become one of CSKA’s most uncomfortable opponents. It is proposed to recall the unbeaten streak of the army team in confrontations with the blue and white.

From September 2009 to October 2015

During this period, one of the most famous series lasted, when CSKA could not beat Dynamo. In September 2009, the army team defeated its opponent in the Russian championship with the score 3:0. However, after that there were no victories for a long time. In the 2010 Russian Championship, both matches ended in a goalless draw. Then there was the 2011/2012 season, which became transitional from the “spring-autumn” system to the “autumn-spring” system. This led to the fact that CSKA and Dynamo met four times, not two. In the first and second rounds, there was a 2:2 draw and a landslide victory for blue and white with a score of 4:0, respectively. In the spring of 2012, one of the matches ended in a 1-1 draw, and the other ended in the defeat of the army team with a minimum score.

In the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons, CSKA became the champions, but Dynamo did not submit to them. In the first round of the 2012/2013 season, the army team lost with the score 0:2, and in the second round it was a draw 0:0. As for the 2013/2014 season, CSKA also lost 0:2 in the first round. At the same time, the second round match turned out to be very exciting, it was the first after the winter break. Then CSKA led with a score of 2:0, but lost 2:4 in the end. Nevertheless, such a result benefited the wards of Leonid Slutsky. It was after him that they rallied, won nine from the remaining nine matches and gnawed the championship for the second time in a row.

In the 2014/2015 season, CSKA also did not smile on luck in matches with Dynamo. The army team lost both matches with a score of 0:1 and 1:2, respectively. But in the 2015/2016 season, the situation changed. Then Stanislav Cherchesov left the position of head coach of Dynamo, and some leaders left the team, including Frenchman Mathieu Valbuena. The updated lineup of “Dynamo”, led by Andrey Kobelev, could not show the results of last year. This is where the series ended. In October 2015, CSKA won 2-0. In the second round, the army team also turned out to be stronger – 1:0. At the end of the 2015/2016 season, CSKA became the champions of Russia, and Dynamo flew from the RPL to the FNL.

From April 2016 to October 2020

After defeating Dynamo in the 2015/2016 season, CSKA had the opportunity to take a break from the brotherly derby. After all, the 2016/2017 season was spent by the blue and white in the FNL. However, already in the 2017/2018 season, they again participated in the RPL and immediately began to fight for places in the upper half of the standings. In the first round of the 2017/2018 season, CSKA and Dynamo tied – 0:0. But in the second round, the quarters of Viktor Goncharenko were defeated – 1:2. In the 2018/2019 season, both games were drawn – 0:0 and 2:2. In the fall of 2019, the army team was again defeated – 0:1. In the summer of 2020, while the 2019/2020 season was being played, the fraternal derby ended in a goalless draw.

In fall 2020, the series went on hiatus. Then Kirill Novikov left the post of head coach of Dynamo, and Sandro Schwartz had not yet arrived in Moscow. As a result, CSKA managed to defeat Dynamo without a head coach with the score 3:1.

From October 2020 to April 2022

The next time period no longer feels like a full-fledged series. However, here CSKA couldn’t beat Dynamo either. In the last round of the 2020/2021 season, the military team led by Ivica Olic lost to Dynamo – 2:3. At the start of the 2021/2022 season, Alexei Berezutsky was already unable to lead CSKA to victory against the blue and whites. His team lost 1-2. But in April 2022, CSKA won again. Then both teams weren’t at their best. CSKA fired in March thanks to newcomers, including Yusuf Yazici, “Dynamo” all season seriously fought with “Zenith” for the championship. However, in April, both teams began a losing streak. However, in a full-time game, CSKA managed to win with a score of 1:0 thanks to a goal from Chidera Ejuka.

Modernity

Under Vladimir Fedotov, CSKA have yet to beat Dynamo. Last season, one of the matches ended in a 1:1 draw, and the other – in a 2:1 victory for the blues and whites. Also before this season, CSKA and Dynamo organized the two-match Fraternal Cup. In it, the army team suffered two devastating losses – 0: 5, 3: 6. This angered the fans. Nevertheless, despite some problems at the start of the season, CSKA and Dynamo have adjusted their game and are gradually climbing to the top places in the RPL rankings. Therefore, their match promises to be interesting.
