The ex-absolute world champion believes that the technique of the Ukrainian can play a decisive role in the fight with the British
Former undisputed world champion in two weight categories Evander Holyfield believes that in a potential fight between the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight title holder Oleksandr Usyk and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury Ukrainian technique can play a decisive role.
“Tyson Fury is a good fighter, but Usyk is a smart guy. He is a technical guy, he moves and he can shoot. The whole point is that you have to see two people fight to find out the truth.”
“The big guys don’t fight better than the little guys, that’s all. The little guys are always smart, but the big guys are always strong. With Tyson Fury it’s different.”
“Fury is a big guy, but he is a very good boxer and he has shown that he has the power. But no one is faster than Usyk. He will be hard to outbox and that could make a difference.”
The unification fight between Usyk and Fury was scheduled for April 2023, but it did not take place. According to the Gypsy King, this happened because of the financial requirements of the Ukrainian.
Previously Usyk signed a contract with Skill Challenge Entertainment from Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian believes that this cooperation will help organize the fight with Fury.
The promoter of the Ukrainian Oleksandr Krasyuk said that the duel between Usyk and Fury was planned for December 26. Now the new potential date for the face-to-face meeting between Tyson and Alexander is January 27, 2024. According to Usyk, his fight with the Briton “wants to see the whole world.”
Usyk will fight Daniel Dubois next. The fight will take place on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Tarczynski Arena. The referee in the ring will be Puerto Rican Luis Pabon. The championship fight will be shown by the MEGOGO media service.
On the undercard of the Usyk-Dubois fight, WBO International lightweight champion Denis Berinchyk, Dmitry Mitrofanov, Yaroslav Khartsyz, Vasily Chebotar, Fedor Cherkashin, Daniel Lapin and others will enter the ring.
