Sunday evening August 20, at the “Opening Bank Arena” in the capital, will undoubtedly be the central match of the 5th round of the Russian Premier League. Before the loss to the Urals a week ago, Guillermo Abascal’s side had won five times – three in the league and two in the Russian Cup. In addition, the “red-whites” showed good results in these matches. As for the “Zenith”, the Petrograders have already stumbled twice. And if a draw in Rostov (1:1) can still be somehow justified (after all, the game against the 4th team last season was away), then the defeat in Dynamo’s home with a score of 2:3 can only be called a sensation.
However, the statistics of one-on-one matches with Spartak over the past decade speak in favor of the country’s current champion. Zenit have not lost to the red-whites in the RPL since November 2017, when they lost 1-3 in Moscow. In the last ten meetings in the championship, the St. Petersburg team has won six times. Four other fights ended in a draw. Interestingly, 7 of the 10 matches listed were edited. Today, the two teams will surely be able to upset each other. Therefore, the “both teams to score” bet with odds of 1.56 seems the most attractive.
