Tyson considers the Ukrainian a bloated middleweight
WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury does not consider Oleksandr Usyk outstanding heavyweight.
Fury noted that the Ukrainian, despite the championship titles, did not spend enough time in the heavyweight to be considered a first-class fighter.
“Oleksandr Usyk entered this generation only in the last fight, so he can’t even be placed … He’s a bloated middleweight, there’s nothing to compare here,” Fury said.
“He’s been a heavyweight champion for two years. When you’re a heavyweight for 10-15 years, come back and we’ll talk.”
Last fall, Usyk became the world heavyweight champion for the first time in his career, defeating Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision.
On August 20, Usyk and Joshua will rematch in Saudi Arabia. In the second fight, the Ukrainian will defend the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO championship belts.
