Corinthians lends side to América-MG and will share salaries with the Minas Gerais club; player was away from the club and has not played since 2020
THE Corinthians bid farewell to yet another player who was no longer being used by the club. This Tuesday, 12, the alvinegro confirmed the loan of Danilo Avelar to the America-MG, until December 2022, when the athlete’s contract with the São Paulo club comes to an end. Both clubs have reached an agreement and will split the full-back’s salary, according to ESPN.
Avelar has not been on the field for Corinthians since October 2020. The player first tore the cruciate ligament in his right knee and, when he was already at the end of his treatment and preparing to return to the field, the side was removed by the São Paulo club because of a racist line during an online match of the game ‘Counter Strike’ (CS:GO).

Without being able to act, the athlete became a weight in the Corinthians squad, which still had to pay his salaries. The team even tried to negotiate the player’s departure to cruise and Ceará, but as he wanted the teams to fully pay the full-back’s salary, negotiations ended up not moving forward.
Also according to ESPN, América had already tried to hire two Corinthians players for the CONMEBOL Libertadores dispute, the center forward jo and the defender Raul Gustavobut ended up hearing the denial by the São Paulo club.
Danilo Avelar was hired by Corinthians in 2018, when he arrived on loan from Turin, from Italy. After a good debut season in Brazilian football, the player ended up having his rights definitively acquired by the Parque São Jorge club the following year. For Timão, the side was crowned São Paulo champion in 2019.
