Ex-Botafogo celebrates classification in the Swedish Cup

The team won the match 2-1 and secured the spot.

“These knockout matches always carry a different weight. This competition will be very important for our team, as it brings us the possibility of fighting for a place in the Europa League. Our team had a great game, we were behind on the scoreboard, but we showed collective strength and, in the end, thank God, we managed to win the classification and guarantee the club in the next edition of the Cup”said the Brazilian through his press office.

Recently, in the 2016/2017 season, Östersunds FK won the Swedish Cup title and managed to play in the Europa League. As it plays in the second Swedish division, at the moment, this is the only possibility for the team to play in a continental competition. Erick spoke about the possibility of playing in the Europa League and that the city still fondly remembers the 2016/2017 title.

“It is everyone’s wish to be able to compete in the Europa League, it would be a dream to be able to compete in the second biggest club competition in Europe. But, we know that there is still a lot of work ahead of us, we have only taken the first step. Now, let’s focus on the league and look for access. The whole city fondly remembers the campaign that led the club to win the title in 2017, I hope we can repeat the feat and leave the name marked in the history of the club”, concluded.
