The promoter said that the Ukrainian won a clear victory
Alexander Krasyuk, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion promoter Oleksandr Usyk, said that he did not consider the outcome of the battle with the British Daniel Dubois controversial.
“What do you mean by a lot of controversy? About what? About a low blow? Do we see it in the photo? Do we need to talk more about this? Do we see a fist, a glove and a belt? Do you like my photoshop? This is a real photo. We don’t argue with the Dubois team why we should argue about legal or illegal.”
“It was an absolutely dominant performance. He won exactly every round, including the fifth, which has been discussed for so long. He won cleanly. And then he knocked out this guy. What else can we add to this?” said the promoter.
In the fifth round, Usyk was on the floor after Dubois hit the Ukrainian below the belt. The referee gave Alexander time to recover, after which the fight continued.
Dubois stated that the kick was clean and he was stripped of a legitimate victory. And the British promoter Frank Warren said that his team would seek the WBA to declare the outcome of the fight invalid.
At the end of the eighth round, Usyk knocked down Dubois, but the Briton managed to get up and continue the fight. And in the ninth round, the Ukrainian knocked out the Briton after another accurate blow.
After the fight, Alexander said that he intended to relax and spend time with his family. For his next fight, the Ukrainian challenged WBC champion Tyson Fury.
For the Ukrainian undefeated boxer, this victory was the 21st in the professional ring, the 14th time Usyk ended the fight ahead of schedule. Dubois suffered the second defeat of his career.
