Andrey Shevchenko does not plan to resume coaching career while war in Ukrainereports journalist Nikolai Vasilkov.
According to him, Shevchenko is now completely focused on helping the Ukrainian people in the face of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“I talked to him and as far as I understood, while the war is going on, he does not plan to resume his coaching career at all. At least while active hostilities are going on, ”Vasilkov noted.
“He says he will put all his efforts into using his name and influence to help Ukraine and raise as many funds as possible.”
“He also launched the ‘Sports Front’ project with ‘1+1’, the main goal of which is to boycott Russian athletes who spoke out in favor of the war or did not voice their position, and to provide comprehensive support for Ukrainian sports.”
In May, Shevchenko became the face of the UNITED24 presidential fund and, as an ambassador, represents the interests of Ukraine around the world.
In 2016-21, Shevchenko coached the Ukrainian national team, which, under his leadership, reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2020. Last fall, the legend of Ukrainian football headed Genoa, but was fired after two months of work.
