– During the match against Pari NN, you took the team onto the pitch with an armband, and after the match you told reporters that you were the team’s “fifth captain” by status. Like that?
– Last summer, the head coach announced that Jikia would remain captain, Zobnin would continue as the first vice-captain and Promes would be the second. After that, the team chose the fourth player, who, according to the results of the vote, became Selikhov. And I took second place. These four players did not all start the Cup match against Paris NN, so for the first time I came out with the captain’s armband.
– This season, you have also managed to play the role of captain: have your feelings changed compared to your debut in this role?
– Of course, the first time was more emotional. From a certain point of view, it happened unexpectedly, but in any case, it was a very uplifting moment! And now, to be honest, I didn’t even immediately realize that I would lead the team with a bandage. Before the game against Paris NN, Abascal said that on the pitch I would be the player with the most appearances for Spartak, but he only realized after the starting line-up was announced.
– Is the experience of captain in the youth team useful?
– Partly yes. But for me, Spartak and the national team are completely different worlds.
– As captain, do you encourage or “push” more often?
– I really try to support and encourage. Although in critical situations the reaction may be different. But we have someone to “stuff” with without me! Umyarov said in an interview with Spartak’s press service.
