UEFA will not interfere in the case of RFEF President Rubiales
UEFA will not disqualify Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). Earlier, RFEF Secretary General Andreu Camps sent a complaint to UEFA about the actions of the Spanish government against the president of the organization, Luis Rubiales.
However, UEFA decided not to take any action or interfere in Rubiales’ case. Otherwise, Spanish clubs and national teams were threatened with exclusion from all international competitions under the auspices of UEFA.
Recall that the FIFA Disciplinary Committee temporarily suspended Rubiales from any activity related to football at the national and international levels for 90 days – until the completion of disciplinary proceedings opened against the Spanish functionary on August 24.
During the 2023 Women’s World Cup final and after Spain’s historic 1-0 victory over England, 46-year-old Rubiales let his emotions run wild. In particular, he kissed the Spanish football player Jennifer Hermoso on the lips during the awards ceremony. And her colleague Athenaeus del Castillo, the official put on his shoulder and carried around the field.
Rubiales refused to resign as president of the RFEF. At the same time, the players of the Spanish national team refused to play for the national team while the federation has a current leadership.
Rubiales has been the head of the RFEF since May 2018 and is also the Vice President of UEFA.
