Obolon’s mentor after the match with Kryvbas is pleased with the fighting spirit of his charges, but complains about the lack of experience and skill
Head coach Obolon Valery Ivashchenko commented on a draw against Kryvbas 5th round UPL.
“This is the Premier League: emotions, tension really were. Today is the third game in eight days, a serious pace. Somewhere the guys are a little tired, because there is not enough time for a good rest. Nothing, we will move on and get used to this rhythm.
“Any victory is a positive emotion. Moreover, this [победа в 4-м туре над СК Днепр-1] was our first win of the new season. This encouraged the guys, but after such matches, a certain decline often occurs. Our coaching staff was afraid of this. But against Kryvbas, the players came out and showed a fighting spirit. It was a ‘whoever scores first wins’ game.”
“We are league debutants. Gradually gaining points. As soon as they left, they said: our guys are young, they are just starting to take their first steps in the Premier League. It is necessary to get used to this rhythm, dynamics. We try, like that chicken – to peck at the grain. We collect credit points – and this is very important from the point of view of psychology. I think if the emotional background is good, the guys themselves will feel that they can move on. But there is still a lot of hard work ahead of us.”
“We had good chances to score. Unfortunately, there is still not enough skill in the final stage. The result suits me in general. We didn’t manage to do everything in today’s match. A coach can never be satisfied: win or lose – there are always mistakes that need to be addressed in order to correct.
Recall that on August 28, Obolon played a draw with Kryvbas (0:0) at home, scored five points and placed 12th in the standings.
In the next round, the Kiev club on September 2 will play away against Polissya.
