Shakhtar’s competitor in the Champions League re-signed the contract with the mentor until the summer of 2025
Antwerp extended the contract with the head coach Mark van Bommel. The Dutchman signed a new agreement until the summer of 2025.
Van Bommel took charge of the Belgian club last year. Antwerp, under his leadership, made a “golden double”, winning the national championship and cup, and this summer won the Belgian Super Cup.
Antwerp are Shakhtar’s rivals in the Champions League group stage. The first meeting between the teams will be held in Belgium on 4 October. The fifth round fight will take place in Hamburg on November 28.
Antwerp is in seventh place in the current Župile League with 7 points. Van Bommel’s men next face Union on September 3rd.
