Alexander Kucher and Yevgeny Krasnikov actually broke the Dnieper-1. This is what the president of the club, Yuri Bereza, said. In an interview with Ukrainian football, the functionary was at a loss for words.
According to him, the invitation of specialists from Metalist, which happened last summer, was a mistake.
“Unfortunately, Andrei Anatolievich Rusol made a mistake in the selection of the coaching staff. We will find out why this happened. I fully trust Rusol, but the selection of Kucher and Krasnikov was only due to the fact that they brought Metallist players, and SC Dnepr-1 then did not have enough players.
No one invited Kucher and Krasnikov, they came themselves, promising to bring players with them. There was complete despair before incomplete despair. It seems they saved SC Dnipro-1 then, but we have to play by their rules.
It was a tricky deal, but from the very beginning I didn’t believe in Kucher and Krasnikov. At that time, my son Maksim and I went to the front, and we were really removed from the decision-making in Dnepr-1 SC. Rusol had absolute carte blanche from me and Maxim,” said Bereza.
Recall that last season Dnepr-1 became the vice-champion of Ukraine, but at the beginning of the current championship the team was removed from European competitions, and Kucher and Krasnikov were fired.
