“It represents the beginning of my dream. It was where it all started. I lived at the Olímpico, trained in Eldorado and now being able to return is the realization of everything I imagined for my career. I can help in the same way that it happened back there”, said the player, who has already posed with the Grêmio shirt at the Arena.
Lucas Leiva returns to the Rio Grande do Sul club after spending the last five years defending the Lazio, from Italy. The negotiation for the player’s contract included weeks and weeks of conversations between Grêmio’s football department and the player himself, who will now wear the number 15 on his shirt, the same as when he was promoted to professional.
“Bah! (O) 15 was the number I used in the famous Battle of the Afflicted. It has everything to do with the moment. I hope there won’t be another one because it was a lot of suffering, but if I have to go through another similar one and end up like it was, I’ll bear it . No problem at all. This issue was already special and continues. But I want to create a story again”, remembered.
The midfielder has his announcement scheduled to take place this afternoon, but he is already released to participate in activities with the rest of his teammates at CT Luiz Carvalho, but despite that, he will only have legal conditions to make his debut for the team from the July 18th, when the transfer window is open.
