The Copa Libertadores semi-final is approaching, and the Palm trees keeps an eye on the games more and more Boca Juniors, opponent in the current phase of the competition. This way, Abel Ferreira and its technical committee are certainly already keeping an eye on Sergio Romerogoalkeeper for the Argentine team, who has had incredible success on penalties.
At the club since mid-2022, Romero has been against a penalty taker on 19 occasions, and has taken an impressive 10 knocks. The success rate is 52% and goes through disputes that kept the team alive until the semi-finals of the continental competition, as the archer shone in both the round of 16 and the quarter-finals.
The first was against the Nationalfrom Uruguay, in which the player shone with two saved shots, and even repeated the same against the racing, in the opponent’s stadium in the last phase. To top it off, Romero made two more saves in the match this Sunday, 10th, to guarantee Boca’s place in the Argentine Cup.
Until then, both teams will still fulfill their respective national calendars, but with an eye on results and performances. The first match will take place on the 28th, at Bombonera, while the return match will be on October 5th, at the Allianz Parque stadium.
