A famous coach will head Dnepr-1
PFC Zvyagel reported that the head coach Yuri Maksimov will leave the team after the upcoming match of the 7th round Second League with FC YUKSA.
Maksimov is expected to become the new head coach Dnepra-1. Assistant coaches Sergei Revut, Nikolai Medin and Nikolai Ishchenko will also move to the UPL club.
“Maksimov received an offer from Dnepr-1. This is not only the UPL team, it is the vice-champion of Ukraine, representing the country in European competitions, with players from the national team. As I said when I introduced Yuri Vilyevich to Zvyagel’s players: this coach would be useful in any Premier League club. Although we are sad today because of such a big loss for our club, we are happy for Maksimov, for a new challenge in his rich coaching career. I am sure that he will make the Dnipro club stronger. On behalf of the team, I thank Yuri Maksimov for his quality work and invaluable contribution to the development of Zvyagel football,” said Dmitry Kostyuk, president of PFC Zvyagel.
Maksimov took charge of Zvyagel in June. Under his leadership, the team won 4 out of 5 matches in the Second League and ranks fourth in the standings. Since April, the specialist worked as the sports director of Polesie, but left the Zhytomyr club in the summer.
In Ukraine, Maksimov also headed CSKA, Obolon, Krivbass, Donetsk Metallurg and Vorskla. At the head of the Azerbaijani Keshli, he won the country’s Cup.
Dnepr-1 with 5 points after four matches is in 13th place in the UPL. In August, Alexander Kucher left the club, and Valery Gorodov temporarily led the team.
