Croatian is close to being assigned to Shakhtar

Croatian specialist Igor Jovichevich one step closer to the appointment Miner.

According to TaToTake, Jovicevich left the location of the Dnepr-1 SC. Together with him, his assistants, Yuri Benyo and Andrey Khanas, also left.

Jovicevic should replace Roberto De Zerbi at the helm of Shakhtar, who is close to leaving the club amid a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. It was reported that the Miners offered the Croat a two-year deal.

48-year-old Jovicevich has been coaching Dnepr-1 since 2020. He is also known for his work with the Karpaty and Dinamo Zagreb.

The last championship of Ukraine was ended ahead of schedule due to the attack of Russian troops. Shakhtar finished the season in first place, Dnipro-1 in third place.

The start of the new season of the Ukrainian Premier League is tentatively scheduled for August 20.
