Inzaghi’s team won the derby for the fifth time in a row
Inter beat big Milan in the 4th round of the Italian Serie A – 5:1.
At first the match was an even fight, but the Nerazzurri were more accurate in the finishing stage. First, after a mistake by Malik Tchau, Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the scoring. Towards the end of the half, Marcus Thuram made a great shot into the far top corner – the same Tchau missed it.
At the start of the second half, Milan logically reduced the gap in the score by converting one of their chances. Rafael Leau completed the quick attack, taking advantage of Olivier Giroud’s pass. But a dozen minutes later, Mkhitaryan scored a double – the ex-Shakhtar player was helped by a rebound from the unfortunate Tchau.
He finished off his principal opponent Calhanoglu with a shot from 11 meters, converting the penalty for a foul by Theo Hernandez on Lautaro Martinez. But that was not all – Milan was finally destroyed as a result of a counterattack. The recent gravedigger of the Ukrainian national team, Davide Frattesi, scored with an assist from the hero of the match, Mkhitaryan.
This is Inter’s fifth derby victory in a row. Two of these victories came in the last Champions League semi-final.
Simone Inzaghi’s team, although they conceded for the first time this season, continue to go without losses. On Wednesday, September 20, the black and blue will play against Real Sociedad in San Sebastian in the first round of the Champions League.
Milan drops to third place with 9 points, behind Juventus. On Tuesday, September 19, the Rossoneri will play at home with Newcastle in the Champions League.
