The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), on appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), has reviewed the decision to disqualify Obukhov, which he received in 2021 while playing for Rostov for a doping test carried out in 2013 .at the training camp of the Russian youth team. The striker is again banned from football-related activities for six months.
– The football club “Orenburg” sincerely regrets the current situation and, obeying the decision of the CAS, stops Vladimir’s work at the training camp. At the moment, Vladimir Obukhov left the team location. We will wait for Vladimir after resolving the issues mentioned above,” the club said in a statement.
Head Club Coach Marcel Lichka also expressed regret in connection with the extension of the player’s disqualification.
“Unfortunately, a good football player and, above all, a good person, Vladimir Obukhov, left the team,” Lichka said.
Obukhov, 30, played 10 FNL games last season, scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist.
