Vishniac: More satisfied than disappointed

The head coach of Kolos noted the high level of the Dnepr-1 players in their first match under the leadership of Maksimov

Head coach Kolosa Yaroslav Vishnyak commented on his team’s draw against Dnepra-1 (1:1).

“We were very wary about the match. We understood that Dnepr-1 had returned to its hometown, and we would like it to be on a permanent basis, so that the war would end and all our clubs would return to their homes. So this factor had an influence, plus a new coach in the team, in front of whom each player tried to show his best side, so we, of course, took this motivation of the opposing players into account when preparing for the game. Regarding the tactical scheme, we knew that Yuri Maksimov played with three defenders in Poltava, so we took this option into account. Basically, everything we prepared for turned out that way.”

“The first half was equal, perhaps in ball control, but we had more chances created that we had to convert. Perhaps we had more of them overall in the game, but it’s hard for me to say, I haven’t looked at the statistics yet. In the second half, we should give credit to Dnepr-1, which has many skilled players on its roster, and there are also those who, in my opinion, are the best in Ukraine in their role. They began to move, the ball began to move well, they began to adjust and felt the positions in which the coach sees them. Here I think that it was not we who began to play worse, but Dnepr-1 that improved during the match. Plus, the goal we scored influenced the actions of the guys, because from a psychological point of view we already wanted to play more reliably.”

“Is a draw a positive result? Before the game – probably yes. But the way the game unfolded, we scored the first goal, maybe we would have liked more. However, let’s not irritate God. Let’s thank him for getting one credit and we’ll continue to prepare. We are more satisfied than disappointed.”

Let me remind you that Dnepr-1 today, September 17, played the first match of the new season at its native Dnepr Arena. The team was led for the first time by a new coach, Yuri Maksimov. Kolos opened the scoring in the second half, but the hosts soon came back.

After this match, Dnepr-1 scored 6 points and now ranks 12th in the UPL standings. Kolos has 9 points and eighth position.

In the next round of the Ukrainian championship, Dnepr-1 will play against Zorya, and Kolos will play with Metalist 1925.
