The entity that governs world football launches an application that provides access to various content. Announce match broadcasts from around the world.

Football fans today have a good reason to be glued to their phones. FIFA has just launched FIFA+, an app that promises to keep you busy throughout the day with plenty of material related to the world’s most popular sport. Through it, you can access live broadcasts, documentaries and movies related to football and its main supporters throughout history.

FIFA+ represents the next step towards our vision of making football truly global and inclusive, and supports FIFA’s core mission to expand and develop football globally. “Says Gianni Infantino, president of the governing body of world football. “This project represents a cultural shift in how different types of football fans can better connect and learn about the sport, and constitutes a fundamental element of my Vision 2020-2023. It will accelerate the democratization of football and we are delighted to share it with the public.”

40 thousand games

The bet is ambitious. According to the Zurich-based entity, in 2022, FIFA+ will broadcast some 40,000 live matches, of which around ten thousand will correspond to women’s football duels. That is around 1,400 matches per month, in a proposal that will range from major European competitions to youth matches.

Meanwhile, the so-called FIFA+ Archive will make available to fans all the matches of the different world cups that have been recorded . “In total, more than 2,000 hours of archive footage. This is the first time that this file has been made available to the public. It will be possible to see the complete matches, the most interesting games, the goals and the magic moments, all in one place. The FIFA+ archive will start with over 2,500 videos dating back to the 1950s. Many more will be added throughout the year.

original productions

Another important element on the platform is the original productions. “Documentaries, docu-series, talk shows and short films will be broadcast, all translated into eleven languages. The stories will cover everything from grassroots football to national teams and feature the presence of football stars past and present, from over 40 countries,” they anticipate.

In fact, at launch, there are already several titles released. Among them, Ronaldinho: the happiest man in the world, which chronicles the life of the Brazilian star from his origins in the Brazilian favelas until he became one of the best footballers in history. The catalog also includes the first season of Captains, a series that follows the captains of six teams in their fight to reach the World Cup in Qatar. The list is made up of Luka Modric, Pierre-Emerick Aumbameyang and Thiago Silva, from Croatia, Gabon and Brazil respectively, and the much lesser known Brian Kaltak, Andre Blake, Hassan Maatouk, prominent names from Vanatu, Jamaica and Lebanon.

FIFA is committed to increasing the content offering in the coming months, taking advantage of the high expectation that the global event to be held in Qatar will generate. FIFA+ is available on the App Store and Google Play.
