Athletistic/Football. Zenit midfielder Zelimkhan Bakaev was loaned to Al-Wahda from the UAE Championship the day before, on September 18. According to RB Sport, the Middle Eastern club did not receive the right to buy the Russian footballer.
The source claims that Zenit insisted that no buyout clause be included in the rental agreement between the clubs. It is worth noting that Bakaev will return to the St. Petersburg team at the end of this season. His contract with the Bleus bleu-blanc-ciel runs until June 30, 2025.
Portal Transfermarkt estimates Zelimkhan’s market value at €2.5 million. The previous season, the 27-year-old Russian played 26 matches for Zenit, scoring three goals and making two assists. He helped St. Petersburg become Russian champions and win the country’s Super Cup twice.
Al-Wahda scored three points in the first two rounds of the new UAE Championship season and now sits seventh in the standings. There are 14 teams participating in the UAE Championship. Al-Wahda will play their next match on Sunday, September 24, when they host Hatta. This meeting could be Bakaev’s debut.
