Shakhtar U-19 conceded four goals against Porto in the UEFA Youth League
Head coach Shakhtar U-19 Alexey Belik commented on the devastating defeat from Porto (1:4) in UEFA Youth League.
“We probably didn’t expect such a result, but this is football. We have five more matches, and although we lost today, we will not stop fighting and will try to show a reaction in the next game.”
“If we talk about the game itself, then, of course, the opponent was better in many components, and in the first minutes we were a little afraid to play football. This is basically a normal situation, because many of the guys who took the field today made their debut in the UEFA Youth League. It’s one thing to play in the Ukrainian championship, but quite another to play at the Champions League level. That’s why I told the guys after the match that nothing terrible happened for us, this defeat is just one step towards their success. We can still improve.”
“The conclusions are that, of course, we made a lot of mistakes, but when there is such a short period of time between matches, I always try to focus the team’s attention on our successful actions. And this case will not be an exception. I will repeat to the guys that they know how to play high-quality football, that they can do everything on the football field, everything is only in their heads and that one successful moment with our goal can always turn the situation in our favor.”
The miners conceded three times in the first half. After the break, Belik’s team missed another goal, but were able to score a prestige goal at the end of the game – Oleg Pushkarev scored.
In addition to Shakhtar and Porto, Barcelona and Anderlecht also play in Group H. Shakhtar U-19 will play against the Belgian team in the next match.

The Lviv team will play their home match against Sarajevo in the first round of the tournament in the Polish city of Staleva Wola. The base dates for the matches between Rukh and Sarajevo are October 4 and 25. The winner of the match will play in the next round with the best team of the Famalican (Portugal) – Midtjylland (Denmark) pair.
