The yellow-reds climbed to second place in Serie A
Genoa lost minimally on the road Lecce in the 5th round match Serie A.
Towards the end of the first half, Genoa were left with ten men – Aaron Martin received a second yellow card.
After the break, Alberto Gilardino’s team failed to maintain a draw, conceding in the 83rd minute. Lecce’s victory was brought by Remy Houdin’s aimed shot from outside the penalty area.
Ukrainian midfielder Genoa Ruslan Malinovsky started the match on the bench. The midfielder came on as a substitute in the 89th minute, but was not effective.
Genoa dropped to 14th place in Serie A with 4 points. Lecce has not yet lost in the new season of the national championship and is in second position in the standings with 11 points.
In the next round, Genoa will host Roma on September 28. Lecce will play away against Juventus on September 26.
