Kyiv-Basket officially announced the extension of the contract with the center Sergei Yurchenko.

In addition, the 36-year-old player was appointed as the new captain of the capital club. Previously, the captain’s functions were performed by Roman Novikov, who at the end of August became a player for the Cherkasy Mavp.

In the last championship, Yurchenko played 32 matches for Kyiv-Basket, scored 7.7 points and made 5.2 rebounds in an average of 20 minutes on the court.

Earlier, the people of Kiev extended contracts with forwards Nazariy Kisilchuk and Vadim Zaplotinsky, as well as big man Artur Fresh-Stakhanov.

In addition, the capital club signed SumDu defender Igor Starodub and two Americans: point guard Danya Kingsby and forward Brantley Bynum. Three more incoming transfers were 33-year-old forward Maxim Ozhegov, defenders Nikita Kogut and Nikita Stetsyura.

Kyiv-Basket took 4th place in the 2022/23 Super League, achieving 22 victories in 32 matches. The people of Kiev will begin the new season of the Super League on October 6 with a match against Polytechnic-Galicia.
