Shakhtar’s away match against Antwerp in the second round of the Champions League will be refereed by Slovenian Obrenovic

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 4, at 19:45

Match between Antwerp And Miner in the 2nd round Champions League 2023/24 the Slovenian referee will judge Rade Obrenovic.

They will help him on the lines Jure Praprotnik And Grega Cordej. The fourth referee is Slavko Vincic. All of them are Obrenovic’s compatriots, as is VAR chief referee Nejc Kajtazovic. His assistant is Croatian Ivan Bebek.

For 33-year-old Obrenovic, this match will be his debut in the main draw of the Champions League. In total, the Slovenian managed to play 20 matches in European competitions, in them he handed out 87 yellow and 3 red cards, and awarded penalties three times.

Obrenovic did not interact with Ukrainian clubs as a chief referee. However, he was the fourth referee in Vincic’s team for the matches Chelsea – Dynamo (March 2019), Manchester City – Shakhtar (November 2019) and Inter – Shakhtar (December 2020). In addition, the young Slovenian refereed the Italy-Ukraine friendly match in 2018.

Earlier, ticket sales for the match in Antwerp started. Their cost for Shakhtar fans is 55 euros.

In the first round of the Champions League in Group H, both clubs suffered defeats. In a nominally home match, which took place in Hamburg, Shakhtar lost to Porto with a score of 1:3. Antwerp was defeated by Barcelona 0:5 on the road.

The match Antwerp – Shakhtar will take place on Wednesday, October 4, at the Bosailstadion arena at 19:45 Kyiv time.
