Chobotenko announced his departure from Mariupol

He has been playing for Priazovtsy since 2018

Defender Sergei Chobotenko said goodbye to Mariupol, employees and fans of Priazovtsy on Instagram. His contract with the club expired on 30 June.

“My contract with FC Mariupol ends today. It’s hard to find words. FC Mariupol and the city of Mariupol are an integral part of me, forever. I would like to thank every employee who is somehow involved in the football club, thank you for everything you have done for me.

Special thanks to all the fans who came and supported the team. We will definitely meet again at our home base and at the stadium. Boyko V.S. under the flag of Ukraine,” Chobotenko wrote on Instagram.

Chobotenko joined Mariupol in 2018 on loan from Shakhtar. In 2019, he became a full-fledged player of Priazovtsy, having played more than 80 matches for the team.

In February, it was reported that Chobotenko had signed a preliminary contract with SC Dnepr-1 and would join the new team in the summer.

Mariupol will not play in the next season of the championship of Ukraine because of the club infrastructure destroyed by the Russian invaders. The city of Mariupol itself is temporarily occupied by Russian troops.
