The athlete and coach performed a combat mission in the Zaporozhye region
Master of Sports in Boxing and Trainer Alexander Cherny died at the front, defending Ukraine from Russian aggression.
The athlete died in the Zaporozhye region while performing a combat mission. The death was reported by the Avangard Khmelnitsky sports club, of which Alexander was a member.
Earlier, boxer Andrei Ogorodnik died in the war with Russian invaders. Sergei Riznyk, the brother of Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk, also died. Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that by the beginning of October, Russian aggression had claimed the lives of 361 athletes and coaches.
In the early hours of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has continued for the 592nd day.
