The Wales national team Twitter account announced that the goal that took the national team to the World Cup in Qatar was scored by a Welshman Gareth Bale not ukrainian Andrei Yarmolenko .
Wales beat Ukraine by a minimum scoreline in the play-off final for the right to qualify for the World Cup. The only goal was scored in the 34th minute. Bale took a free kick, the ball hit Yarmolenko’s head, after which he ended up in the goal.
– After technical review, the winning goal against Ukraine is credited to Gareth Bale. That ball sent us to the 2022 World Cup. It’s time to celebrate that goal again! Congratulations to our captain! The Wales national team press service said in a statement.
The World Cup in Qatar will take place from November 21 to December 18.
