“Fluminense’s new shirt is a celebration of Cartola’s life and his relationship with Tricolor das Laranjeiras. The green and pink colors, inspired by Mangueira, and Cartola’s poetry sewn onto the shirt are a tribute to everyday life in Rio that transcends the four lines”, wrote cube carioca.
The shirt also prints from end to end the lyrics of “Run and look at the sky”, a classic samba composed by Cartola and Dalmo Castello, in 1974. The font is inspired by the samba artist’s handwriting.
Samba, passion and colors intertwine in this tribute to an icon of Rio de Janeiro!

Cartola was born and lived in the Catete neighborhood, south of Rio de Janeiro, until he was eight years old. Afterwards, he moved to Laranjeiras, where his connection with Fluminense began. Later, he lived in Morro da Mangueira, where he was one of the founders of one of the most traditional samba schools in the country.
“This is a shirt full of strength and meaning. We revere the life, work, poetry and legacy of someone whose history is intertwined with that of the club he loved so much.”said Mario Bittencourt, president of Tricolor.
Sales of Fluminense’s third uniform begin this Thursday, the 12th, in the club’s physical and online stores.
