The Ukrainian believes that character will help him defeat Fury
WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO world heavyweight champion Alexander Usik said that he would defeat the WBC belt holder Tyson Fury his character will help him.
“Right now we are working to arrange a fight with Tyson Fury. And I think: “How can I box with this avatar? How to defeat him? So, character is a very incredible thing.”
“When I’m running a cross-country race of 20 kilometers, the second me comes to me and says: “Sanya, don’t run. You are the world champion. Why do you need it?” He says: “Brother, rest. You already have money. For what? Have a rest”. And I answer him: “No, bro. I don’t know you.” And it’s been like that all my life.”
At the end of September, it became known that Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed title in the heavyweight category. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
The contract for the undisputed heavyweight title between Usyk and Fury contains a rematch clause. The clause applies to both boxers; the loser can initiate a re-fight.
Oleksandr Usyk, in his last fight on August 26 in Wroclaw, defeated Daniel Dubois by technical knockout in the ninth round. Fury will fight against Francis Ngannou on October 28 in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
