Midfielder Chelsea Palmer will miss the match against the Ukrainian youth team due to injury

Another addition to the Blues’ infirmary

Head coach England youth team Lee Carsley reported that his team’s main midfielder Cole Palmer will not go to Slovakia for the match against the team Ukraine.

The Chelsea footballer, a teammate of Ukrainian Mikhail Mudryk, suffered an injury to his right leg in the previous match against Serbia, in which the English won a strong-willed victory with a score of 9:1. Cole was substituted in the 52nd minute with the score 3-1.

According to the coach, the player’s injury is not too serious, but the specialist decided not to risk it.

Chelsea have been plagued by injuries this season. Right now in the club hospital, in addition to Palmer, are goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli, defenders Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Trevo Chalobah, Ben Chilwell and Reece James, midfielder Romeo Lavia, forwards Christopher Nkunku and Armando Broya.

England, led by Carsley, won the 2023 European Youth Championship. At the same tournament, held in Georgia and Romania, the Ukrainian team reached the semi-finals and earned a historic ticket to the Olympics.

In qualifying for the 2025 Youth European Championship, England and Ukraine won two victories each and lead the Group F standings with six points each.

The match between Ukraine and England will take place on October 16 in Kosice, Slovakia, at the Kosice Football Arena stadium. The meeting starts at 19:30 Kyiv time.
