Soboleva lost to Hungarian Bodnar in her debut match in the main draw of the WTA tournament

The young Ukrainian gave a worthy fight to her more experienced opponent in Cluj-Napoca, Romania

Ukrainian tennis player Anastasia Soboleva lost dramatically in the first round of the tournament WTA 250 V Cluj-Napoca (Romania).

For the 19-year-old Ukrainian, the fight against Anna Bondar from Hungary became her debut at the WTA level. Earlier in qualifying, she scored her debut win at the elite level, beating Romania’s Maria-Sara Popa, and then made it into the main draw by beating Germany’s Viviane Heisen.

Soboleva managed to win against her 26-year-old opponent, who is much superior to her both in experience and in ranking (116th position versus 328th), the first set – 7:5.

In the second game, Anastasia broke her opponent’s serve twice, but lost four times on her own. In the decisive set, the Ukrainian resisted for a long time, but Bondar nevertheless converted the match point on the second attempt – 6:3.

Let us remind you that in August the Hungarian tennis player managed to beat the Ukrainian Katarina Zavatskaya in the US Open qualification.

Four Ukrainians took part in the main draw of the tournament in Romania, but only Daria Snigur managed to reach the 1/8 finals. Dayana Yastremskaya and Katerina Beindl did not succeed.
