Matches European Championship qualification 2024 on Tuesday will start from minutes of silence. UEFA will honor the memory of the Swedish fans killed during the terrorist attack in Brussels on Monday.
Let us remind you that on the evening of October 16, an unknown person opened fire from a machine gun at people on the streets of Brussels. As a result, two fans of the Swedish national team were killed. The killer managed to escape. The alleged attacker reportedly later posted a video describing his crime and calling himself a member of ISIS.
The suspect was subsequently identified as 45-year-old Abdesalem L., a man of Tunisian origin. During the police operation, the alleged terrorist received a gunshot wound to the chest and died some time later in intensive care.
The match between Belgium and Sweden was interrupted with the score 1:1 at the end of the first half. After information about the tragedy, the Swedish national team players refused to play in the second half; the Belgians supported their opponents in this decision.
