The athlete specially flew to Italy from England on Tuesday to testify before the prosecutor’s office. The hearing lasted about two and a half hours, after which the footballer left the prosecutor’s seat, refraining from any comments.
Earlier, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced that Juventus Turin midfielder Nicolo Fagioli had been suspended from matches for 7 months. The footballer was sanctioned for violating a rule prohibiting the possibility of betting on football events organized by the FIGC, FIFA and UEFA. Prosecutors and the 22-year-old footballer reached an agreement under which Fagioli was suspended for 12 months, 5 of which were replaced by alternative assignments. Fagioli was also fined 12,500 euros.
