RFU general secretary unhappy with Kenya friendly result

General Secretary of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Maxim Mitrofanov shared his opinion on the friendly match Russia -Kenya.

The match took place the day before in Antalya, Turkey, and ended with a score of 2:2.

— We made three mistakes, they led to two goals. We probably didn’t show our best level of play. We can’t be satisfied with the result, we were hoping for something else. But it is important that the team continues to play. From the perspective of football quality, it would be more fair to listen to the head coach’s assessment.

— After Cameroon, there was a surge of positive emotions around the national team. Do you think there will be criticism again now?

— It is also important that we played with Cameroon at home, in Moscow, in an almost completely filled VTB Arena. Of course, when our fans push the team forward, the players feel that there is no room for error, the team plays completely differently. We couldn’t play the match against Kenya elsewhere. But this is not an excuse for us to have played on neutral ground,” RB Sport quotes Mitrofanov.
