Ex-Russian women’s national team coach spoke out about sexual violence

Former women’s coach Russian team Vera Pauv has reported being sexually abused on several occasions while playing for the Netherlands national team.

“For 35 years, I have kept a secret from the whole world, from my family, from my teammates, from my players, from my colleagues, and even from myself. Even my relatives were not aware of the rape that I suffered at the hands of a well-known football official when I was a young player. Later, two more cases of two other men were added to this list. The three men at the time worked in football I have reported my rapes and sexual assaults to the Dutch police. I know there will be more heartache to come,” Pauw wrote on social media.

Pauw from April to September 2011 she led the Russian women’s team.
